Description
The Higonokami Hikari knife: an authentic folding higonokami in Japanese design
The blade of the Higonokami Hikari knife is made of high-carbon blue Yasugi steel – 62 HRC, offering exceptional sharpness and remarkable durability, concealed in a hammered brass handle. Its revolutionary V-shaped blade allows you to use this knife with either hand. The Chikiri lever opening and friction without locking mechanism simplify daily use.
Traditional craftsmanship and Japanese cutlery
Handcrafted in Japan, this folding knife embodies the tradition of Japanese cutlery and the renowned quality of Yasugi steel.
Care and maintenance of your folding knife
High-quality carbon steel requires special care: these blades darken with use, and this patina is unavoidable and normal. To prolong the life of your knife, do not wash it; simply wipe the blade after each use. Regularly wipe the blade with an oil-impregnated cloth to preserve its quality and prevent corrosion.
Dimensions and weight of the Hikari: a lightweight, precise knife
Dimensions Medium :
- Blade length: 7.5 cm
- Handle length (closed): 9.5 cm
- Total open length: 17 cm
- Blade thickness: approx. 3.0 mm
- Hammered brass handle
When the Higonokami folding knife is new, the blade may be slightly taut, but will loosen naturally with time and use. If it becomes too loose, it can easily be tightened by hammering the pivot – a great feature of the Higonokami’s traditional design that facilitates maintenance.
Use and versatility
This Japanese folding knife is ideal for outdoor enthusiasts, cutlery collectors and those in search of a sturdy tool for camping or survival. The V-shaped blade and brass handle offer a comfortable grip and a stable fulcrum for precision tasks.
