Higonokami Hikari

The knife’s blade is made of high-carbon blue Yasugi steel – 62 HRC, which is hidden in the brass handle. The V-shaped blade allows you to use the knife with either hand. The blade is opened by the Chikiri lever and remains open with friction, without a separate locking mechanism.

Handcrafted in Japan.

Description

Please note that carbon steel requires special care: these blades turn black with use, this oxidation is inevitable and cannot be avoided. There’s no need to wash the knife, just wipe the blade clean after use. It’s a good idea to wipe it regularly with an oil-impregnated cloth.

Dimensions Medium :

  • Blade length:7.5 cm
  • Closed length: 9.5 cm
  • Open length: 17 cm
  • Blade thickness: approx. 3.0 mm
  • Handle: hammered brass

When the knife is new, the blade may be a little taut, but will loosen over time. If it becomes too loose, it can be tightened by hammering the pivot – a great feature of the Higonokami knife.
