Description
French army parachute: a second-hand canopy with many uses
This parachute canopy comes from decommissioned French army stock. Designed for military paratroopers, this second-hand piece retains its authenticity, despite its classification as unfit for jumping.
In the field, this changes everything: you’re not buying safety equipment here, but a sturdy, versatile canvas. What the sheet doesn’t show is its ability to cover a trailer, protect outdoor storage or dress up an exhibition space.
Unsuitable for jumping, this canopy lends itself to two concrete uses: all-weather protection for a vehicle and a decorative element steeped in military history. Military nylon, with its diameter of around 7 meters, covers a wide area and conforms more easily to irregular shapes than a rigid tarpaulin.

Status and limits to check first
What to check first: the condition is still excellent for a second-hand item, but this is not new equipment. The lines, the thin cords connecting the canopy to the harness, are cut at about 20 cm.
The canopy may also show small holes or old repairs. In the field, this is consistent with light roofing or decorative use, much less with a complete waterproofing project.
Stock conditions vary according to arrivals, so photos are not contractual. Please remember that the models sent are genuine military parachutes, never reproductions.
Use: how to make the most of your second-hand parachute
In practical terms, for camping, wintering or seasonal storage, this nylon dome serves as a lightweight cover. Stretched over a frame or placed on a vehicle, it limits dust, leaves and moderate rain, but does not replace a waterproof tarpaulin.
To be reserved for secondary protection or wall decoration, exhibitions and surplus ambience. Where this model stands out is in its visual authenticity and useful surface, not in its strict technical protection function.
Warning: nylon is flammable. Keep this fabric away from flames, stoves and sources of intense heat.
Military authenticity and history
This piece uses real French equipment references, such as the AMR 716, 718 or 720. For a collection, a re-enactment or a room decoration, you’re holding a period item, with the normal markings of service equipment.
What the sheet doesn’t show is the visual presence of a real military dome when deployed. On a wall, under a roof or in an exhibition space, this aspect immediately changes the atmosphere.
